Greetings,

My name is Raphael Wait from Denver, CO. I am 34 years old and just getting back into cycling. I rode quite a bit when I was in high school but had gotten away from it until this year. Some friends of mine participate in RAGBRAI every year and talked me doing it with them this past July. I didn't want to go to Iowa without at least a modicum of preparation, so I did some research and purchased an 08 Specialized Allez Triple. As soon as I began riding again I realized how much I missed it and have really been enjoying myself since. I look forward learning more about cycling and being a member of this site.

Thank you,

Raphael Wait

Ho there. Did your friends ever say why RAGBRAI starts when it does? So the corn will be high enough for riders to hide in the corn when they are forced to take nature breaks.

So true, but you have to be careful in the corn, I heard some scary stories about corn spiders.

Cool to hear fro another Northern Colorado rider! We ride a tandem, and enjoy riding the South Platte Greenway and Cherry Creek trails; park and 88th & Colorado (we are north in Loveland) and go into LoDo - Wynkoop's for lunch and refreshment (!).

I'm new to the forum here, hoping to learn. Thanks for mentioning the RAGBRAI; ages ago I applied, didn't win their lottery registration, and it just dropped from my radar. Maybe I'll think about it for next year, if I start seriously training far enough in advance.

Best,
WriterStoker
