General Cycling Discussion - What does your signature mean?

My signature changes periodically, but right now it has special meaning. My signature means that there are three people living in my house. There will be four in August 2002.:angel:

Maybe it means I should get a bigger bicycle.

Catch 22 is one of the more influential books I've read and that quote sums up many of life's difficulties very well. I started using it when I used to participate on political boards. I've since outgrown :) that foolishness but still like the quote.

The smilies I use at the end are self-explanatory.

I ended up using that for my .signature at work; I've gotten a lot of questions about what it means, and this is the usual reply:

My love of bicycle technology... and a rejoinder to lance who, though a brilliant athlete who could beat my *** in his sleep with one pedal, would not have toasted Jan on l'Alpe d'Huez if he'd been riding an X-Mart Huffy.

I was a fan of the television show "Millenium". It seems appropos to all of us as cyclists and those of us who are commuters. I see it as the answer to all those questions we get.

"You ride your bike to work?" This is who we are.

"I don't guess you'll be riding TOMORROW in the (rain, cold, heat, whatever)?" Sure. This is who we are. (Which reminds me. Joe, we need a smilie for a shrug.)

You get the idea. Of course, I don't actually say "This is who we are." That would sound wierd. I just say something like "It comes with the territory." or "Occupational hazard." But in my head I am saying "This is who we are." and thinking of all of you.

Mine is taken from The Screaming Jets' "Better" (http://www.stoptheworld.20m.com/better.htm). In my view the greatest song ever recorded. It came out at a time when I had quite a bit of teen angst in my system, not helped by a lot of people at the time telling me that a country boy raised by a single mother would never actually do anything in life. Beyond all that, I just like the quote.

This is the last line from Lord Tennyson's inspirational poem "Ulysses". I read somewhere that these lines are inscribed on a monument at the South Pole in memory of the heroic members of Robert F. Scott's fateful Antartic expedition.

My signature is a quote from a kids cartoon that my boys love- but I enjoy it too.
It is a Canadian(?) cartoon that was on air the time that I wrote my profile. Apart from that, I am just too lazy to change it.:D

It's what I hope for whenever I go out on the bike(sorry ChrisL!), and in my second occupation of flying, so it fits in no matter what I'm doing!

Of course on any ride it's nearly impossible to get a tailwind both ways, so philisophically speaking...what am I really trying to say?:confused:
