Hello all!
I am looking into biking as a way of returning to activity after ACL reconstruction in May. I play(ed) rugby, and did a great deal of running and lifting, but haven't ridden a bike for about 10 years.
However, biking has been repeatedly suggested as a way to get back into shape and really get moving once I am finished with physical therapy and cleared for activity. One of my teammates was telling me that biking 3-4 days a week after her ACL surgery really helped bring her back up to an almost normal level very quickly.
So that got me started, and the more I think about it and read about it, the more I think I am going to get a bike this fall and really work it into my routine. I love being outside, I love being active, and I know that running alone isn't going to cut it, especially since I won't be able to run as much as I was pre-injury for quite a while. I also know a few people who do triathlons and rave about how much fun they are, so having a bike and getting into some shape there might lead to some races and such in the future.
I will probably lurk around here for a while and then start to seriously ask questions about what to buy, etc. That's my 2 second bio, and I look forward to hanging around here!
