Southern California - Kraemer street entrance to SART

Hi all,
I hope everyone's doing well. Just a quick question... I live right across CSUF on State College street. Is Kraemer street the closest entrance to the SART? I plan to use the river trail to commute to Huntington Beach where I go to school. Thanks in advance everyone!

Thank you! I'm going to try out both just to compare. Different routes might also be good to break the routine. But of course... safety is priority.

yes it is.

cal state is on state college and if you tried to hit the river trail on state college youd have to go allll the way down to the block where it hits. kraemer is the closest entrance/exit.

Lincoln is, that is if you know your way around. Tanner, you just like to barge the traffic on the main arterials so you can make the "I Saw You" thread on LAF.

CritEastwood, I tried the route you gave me yesterday... Aside from Acacia street being a little narrow, it's a very good route. It's pretty flat. The ride on the SART itself was much shorter. I get off either on McFadden or on Edinger. Thanks again!

I tried to use the Kraemer entrance on my way back home but got lost. I completely forgot that Kraemer actually becomes Glassell. On the SART, the street sign says Glassell instead of Kraemer. I'll try it again some other time.

Garfield Cat - Yup! Golden West it is.

To Golden West College its McFadden. I don't like Edinger because it gets hairy around Beach Blvd in Huntington Beach. McFadden and Beach is also a bit dicy but less traveled.

Make sure you sign up for a locker so you can take a shower in their facilities. This is great. Ride to campus, take a shower, get your own locker and change clothes. Got to Student cafeteria and get a continental breakfast...all before your first class.

I knew the swimming pool maintenance man and he used to let me swim early in the morning before the team started their workouts. Olympic size pool. If you have a good bike, you need to park it in the pool's engine room where nobody can get to it. You still have to lock it up.

On Edinger and Golden West Street, on the south/west corner, there's a good deli shop called De Simone. The bake their own Italian bread and roast their own turkey. They even have Cuban sandwiches. This is not a chain type place like Quiznos and Subway. No frills, just good food. Ask the locals.

Just stay out of the door zone and take the lane on that stretch of Acacia from the 91 underpass to La Palma. I use that bit of road often and don't get harrassed,

So I did the whole route today and it went very well. Actually, it was way better than I expected. Flat surface, not much debris, temperature was relatively low... no complaints. And it was fun, also. Thanks everyone for you help and suggestions. I appreciate it.

Garfield Cat - Thanks for the tip! I saw one of the guys who works on the pool and he said it was no problem for me to take a shower if I wanted to. I actually work at the cafeteria so I get to park my bike in there... plus the breakfast! Yup, I've been to De Simone a couple of times. Great food plus you get free pork 'n beans! haha. The owner or the guy with the glasses whose always there is very nice also.

CritEastwood - Thanks again for the route... I'm pretty happy with it so I'll probably stick with it... I'll try Kraemer next time when I get bored with this one. Took me about an hour and twenty minutes to get to school so it wasn't so bad. I just wish I did this earlier during the summer.

You're welcome Jimi. I have a few variations of that, hitting a few other resedential streets that is even faster late at night. Some of those variations work only late at night though because of the scofflaw nature of them.
