Mountain Biking - my el-cheapo build

Hey all,

After several months of effort and saving I finally got my mountain bike together!

While it`s not as light and blingy as pcads fly ti, it is much lighter than the 06/07 Specialized hardrock and around the same weight as the 06 Garry Fisher Wahoo (sp?)
It rides like a dream and I'm sure we'll be having a blast from now 'till I wreck it!

I love my bike!

I really like those home-built bikes. The cost is usually low and the performance on par with bikes costing way more. I have a 2000 Hard Rock that I built up from a frame and spare parts from other bikes/builds. My son came home from college, took one ride on the Hard Rock and traded his Trek 820 for it. (Dad's a soft touch).

Well, it has the "Rock" sticker on the top tube, and I'm a huge Ween fan, so I think she'll be known henceforth as Dr. Rock

The frame is a 19.5" aluminum Iron Horse frame that I sanded and re-painted

Hmmmm, the total cost was around $500 but I work at a shop so I get the pro deal on parts, plus I picked up a couple of things off of ebay for absurdly cheap.

:roflmao2: it's true....actually I do lurk around there quite frequently, my other bike is an '07 Giant TCR...which still doesn't make the "bling" list....:(...:D

Thanks for all the kind words guys, by the way, she went on her first real single track adventure and she rides just as nicely as anyone could want....Due to the frame geometry you end up sitting much straighter than I originally thought, so I popped out a couple of risers and that put me in a much more comfortable/aggresive riding position.
