did anyone see this story in the herald? Thats the one thing ive been nervous about on bateman with all those curves. Just south of lake cook is pretty straight though, I dont see how this could happen unless the driver misjudged the distance and/or the cyclists were out in the middle of the road.
I got to say I had a close call on Penny Rd heading west close to bateman because of all those damn potholes.

Maybe they forgot they were pulling the trailer. Or it was just to get even with us lycra wearing morons -- "Honest officer, I didn't see them." :notamused:
Yeah, Penny is in pretty bad shape. I hear they will not resurface it until the gravel quarry is filled in. When that quarry was operational, I had a lot of close calls with gravel trucks

They don't say what time. I was out there at 10ish and didn't see anything.

We lost another one here in Racine County: LINK (http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=781401). I still suggest staying off the Racine County roads after 3pm. Period.
I've been riding my hard tail MTB, 75% off road. I'll take a gopher hole over an *** hole any day.

Hmm.... northbound on Bateman just south of Lake/Cook? Nine riders?
My guess is that group of riders was strewn out in the whole lane, as that's a place where on our Tuesday nighter we're at 30+ mph coming down a hill and riders are getting ready to sprint to a stop ahead sign. Any driver trying to pass at that point is impatient to begin with and should be hanging back, as the bikes are going almost the speed limit, anyway, and a stop sign is right ahead.
That's just a guess.

Meh.
Far be it from me to make speculative comments on an internet bulletin board. I'm sure the authorities will be checking here for evidence.
;)
I cant say because ive never been in a situation like that... but if someone was hit, there were 9 of us and the guy just kept on going, i'd ride like hell to keep up with him at least to get a license plate. Like i said though ive never been in that situation thank god.
