hey,

so i spent the day running around to several local bike shops looking for some cane creek levers cross levers with no luck.

on cane creek's website, they only list two sizes for these levers, 26.0mm and then 30.8 (? something oversize). at my lbs, however, he appeared to have another lever listed that he indicated was the one i need... is this a 24.0mm?

the diameter of my handlebars where the lever is to go is 24.8mm.

want to figure this out, as the shop's distributor is sold out of these levers... but i think i've found some online. (did CC discontinue them? there appears to be a total shortage)

thanks!

If you need one, I have a few spares...

I've got the 26.0mm ones, and the lever can only go on the narrow portion of the handlebar. If you bar is 26.0 get the 26.0 levers.

the wide part of my bar, where the stem clamps is 25.4mm. the narrow portion, where i wish to have the brake levers is 24.8mm. i'm trying to clear up whether the 24.0mm will fit my bar. i imagine that the 26.0mm is too large.

additionally, is there any reason i should go with flat top over cross top? it's my understanding that the cross top have the option of being used with drop levers. i plan to set them up without drop levers... but maybe would like to have that option in the future.

uggh, ok. just found this: http://sheldonbrown.com/cribsheet-handlebars.html

which leads me to believe that maybe the dude at my LBS measured my grip area diameter incorrectly, or at least jotted it down wrong. 23.8mm sounds like the more likely grip/narrow diameter?

would love some enlightenment!

the handlebars are Hsin Lung, btw.

If the clamp on the lever is bigger than your bars you can easily fix that with a shim, or you can mickey-mouse a shim like I did. (I used electrical tape to bridge the gap.)
