Probably an old story around here...... 55 year old male, jogger, gets sick of chronic achilles heel pain, gives up jogging, and decides to combine a cycling workout with a commute to work (10 miles one way).

Bought a Scott S60, and have been using it to commute for a few weeks now. Been going well, so far. Particularly enjoy the ride home, even though there's more traffic.... just like the time to 'decompress'. There is a pretty decent 'bike path' along the wide shoulder of the route I take.

Also bought my wife a Scott p5 lady (hybrid), which she uses for errands around town and also for nice rides on the Carriage Trails at Acadia Natl. Park (I also have a Mt. bike I use for these trips), which is a 1 hour drive from our house.

Hello Frobozz, a familiar story, but one which never gets old! We are always happy to welcome people here, and especially happy when we see people combine that nice workout with a commute. Your commute is about the same length as mine, but mine has a big hill at either end.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
