Track Cycling: Velodrome Racing and Training Area - Olympic Track coverage

Not surprisingly, it doesn't look like track (cycling) will get too much coverage here in the US. NBC appears to be making Sarah Hammer in persuit into a somewhat featured event, and they might show some sprints, but I would love to see Madison and Kerin footage. I know NBC (US TV broadcast) has some events online. I would have to imagine other countries (where track cycling is a bigger deal) might do the same thing.

Thanks god for CBC! I have been watching a lot of the Olympics and after about 20 minutes of NBC I end up switching over to CBC. The coverage is SO much better.

I do find it odd that kerin and madison are getting no coverage in the US. It seems like we actually have a decent shot at doing well, and I always thought that those were the two events that are made for TV. Short and exciting, perfect for the US mentality!

+1. That goes for hockey coverage too. I think some of it has to do with Canada's toned down sense "we're gonna kick so much ass at these olympics" that the US has and therefore NBC regurgitates. NBC really only covers the events that the US has a shot at doing well in.

Seriously, I have discovered that most other TV sites block certain content based on (I assume) IP address. Therefore, the CBC website, which looks perfect, will not allow you to play content in the US. SUCKS! Anyone know a good Canadian based web proxy?

BBC doesn't look like they have any online content. Am I missing it?

Aussies, I did a little searching, and it looks like Channel 7 has online content (they are the official online broadcaster), but it looks mostly like Yahoo fluff pieces, and it doesn't work here, either. Does anyone know a good Australia based web proxy?

What about other countries? Anyone else? At this stage, I am sure I will just get more blocked content, but I am hoping...

BBC content should be available worldwide, if yo go to the sports page / Olympics there's a Live Video feed on the right hand column and when theres action from the velodrome there will be a link from there. :)

If you go to the cycling page theres a schedule there, it's not got great detail, but it does list what time stuff starts.

i haven't checked BBC out again, but I did check NBC tonight, and Men's Madison is now listed for Tuesday (online). Progress!

bbc coverage is restricted to uk ip addresses i lie in ireland and cant get it despite getting the satellite feeds

and see if it works nbc probably have it blocked in the states there is a programme guide there and its just the feed with no commentary

It sucks to be on dial-up!! I caught a little of France vs GB this morning. Crosses my fingers that there will be more televised...

suck balls NBC and every other site that won't show what's happening on the track. I'm tired of seeing the same footage of U.S. hopefuls over and over with only a brief passing glance at all these other neat events I never heard of!

Track coverage in US sucks. This makes me want to hop across the Canadian border. This just blows. I saw the championships in LA, and it was such a blast. I can't believe they think Archery will draw more excitement and entertainment than track cycling. They showed all of the road race and time trials on streaming video ... why not track cycling?

I caught the last 15min or so (just ended at 1135 west coast time). Then it switched to badminton.

When (what time central or east coast) does Track Cycling come up again on NBC on Saturday? The events are shown at the exact same clock-time on the west coast as the east, so those east/central can let us know the exact clock times events come up.

NBC online now has the entire day 1 and day 2 of the track. They're multi-hour streams, with no voice commentary, but have a running text commentary.

Actually I'm impressed and pleased that NBC is putting all of this online. Looks like they wait for it to broadcast first, then they put the entire raw feed online.

Only problem is that you have to install MicroSoft Silverlight software. Runs fine on my computer but ymmv.

Trying to catch these races on TV has been really difficult. You never know when they're going to show track. I was watching today not even expecting any track on NBC and out of no where they jumped to Women's pursuit, showed a couple of races and then went on to something else. DVRing doesn't help much either because they never end up showing track during that time block because other events go on longer. So I'd have to record all day and that would fill up the drive.

Try bbc.co.uk/iplayer, but I don't know if it's availbale in the US. I'm visiting the UK at the moment and the BBC coverage is excellent. The BBC digital interactive system allows you to choose the sport you want to watch, so I've seen almost all of the cycling - road and track. The Brits are cleaning up in track gold medals, BTW!!!
