One of the most (my opinion) impressive moments of the opening to the current Olympic Games was the march of fireworks footprints across the Bejing sky to the stadium.

Turns out that it was faked.............yep a digital creation, inserted into the live fireworks by the cinematic staff of the show.

Should I feel cheated.......it was an impressive effect?

How long before I discover that some of the rest of the games are happening in a studio? Was it really raining during the womens road bike race, or was that just good theater?

With all the new Swimming World Records, I'm thinking they have developed a "tilt mechinisim" for the swimming pool that allows the swimmers to swim down hill.:D

And what's with the swimmers from China putting duct tape over the "Speedo" logo on their surits? The tape covers just enough of the logo that one can still make out the logo.

I was wondering the same thing. Here's an explaination from another forum. Don't know if it's true but it sounds reasonable.

"China had a swimsuit contract with another company for their national team and made the decision at the last moment to allow their swimmers to wear the LZR for the Olympics like many federations did. It's probably the compromise they made to be able to do it and not void the contract with their national team supplier."

Maybe it was done by the same studio who faked the telecast of the lunar landing in 1969. :roflmao2:

Ya mean we can't photoshop everything? I was thinking of having my own olympics. Jesse Owens vs Carl Lewis. Mark Spitz vs Phelps vs Weismuller. Think of all the possibilities. All you need is a good archive.

Dude...they said in the broadcast that it was a computerized effect.

They actually DID have the fireworks, but they couldn't find a good angle to film them from and they were concerned about having a helicopter in the air to capture it on video - so they televised the fake version.

The guy that made the video even included extra effects for smog and camera shake.

And now it turns out that the 7 year old singer wasn't "cute" enough, so the cute girl got to lipsinc the better singers song.

A little nip and tuck here and there, a little tooth white, perhaps a little push up there. Whatever happened to real people............
