Okay, so after weeks of riding in the teens and sub-zero temps, the weather took a turn upwards (yea), yesterday was in the 20s! I pulled the Nokians, to ride on my "cycle cross," tires. A different tire, a different profile, more speed, less control on ice. The weather and the tires made it feel like I flew to work. I did, Tuesday it took me 2:15 to get to work yesterday 1:39. Cutting a half hour off the commute is flying to me.
I have to figure out the rear rack, my jury rigged fenders don't work. I had to comb road salt and sand out of my hair, and the back of my new yellow Pearl Izumi windshirt is black from the spray off the road. It was the perfect garment to wear, the sleeves zip off, and I was riding with my sweater in the weather, with a longsleeve polypro undershirt. I was toasty, it was also nice to get off the bike and not have sweat rolling off my body. It happens when I wear the sleeves.
Can't wait for more warm weather, it is such a break from that bitter needle cold stuff, as much as I enjoyed that, something about "Spring" being in the air...
