Northeast - Who here is a Philly Roadie?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Cuz goddamn... some roadie just flew right past me on my ride... I was going about 16mphish on the ramp between Ridge Ave. and Kelly Drive, near Main st., and this roadie with some black carbon bike and full carbon rims just flies by me...I got up to about 22mph and the guy's still pulling away at like 25ish...
Who the hell are you???

Dude there's like a billion roadies that go through that section on the weekends, and I bet like only six of them are on BF.
We should really get a Philly meet/greet ride going, perhaps tempo to Valley Forge. What say you? Grahny? Dan.Levelle? MichaelMC?

I'd be in for a Philly area ride. I'm only 20some miles away.

Wow, six Philly area roadies on BF? I didn't think there were that many. I'd be down for a group ride. I'm always looking for new people to ride with.

Count me in. Philly roadie. Well, commuter with a road bike. I do 22 mi. round-trip daily from Mount Airy to Center City. I'd love to give it a try; not sure how well I could keep up, but I'm game...

How do you guys feel about this: Art Museum to Valley Forge via Schuylkill River Trail. I'm hoping we can do a decent pace, say 18 mph—it's pancake flat out there. Pick a Sunday, 9am...
This coming Sunday is the Bike Philly event, and Sunday, September 28 is the weekend of the MS 150, so how about Sunday, September 21?
I'd suggest taking West River Drive and then Main Street/Umbria Street and then picking up the trail. There's no way you can safely ride on the Kelly Drive part of the trail at 18 MPH on a Sunday morning with all of the recreational users on it.

Shhhh... I was trying not to mention Umbria.

Why? It's not that bad... If I'm available, I'd love to join you guys- meet at the Italian Fountain?

Isn't that the truth? I stay away from Kelly at all costs.

Hmm... I might be able to handle that. When I commute on Kelly, I hit 18mph on the flats, and that's with 2 panniers full of stuff. Worth a shot. How long would this ride be?

Around 45-5o round trip.

Sounds good. Just as long as no one gets on the Sunday Vino by mistake. I'll start a new thread.
