Hi. Pleased to meet you; hope you guess my name.
Anyway, I ride a steel, lugged road bike and a steel hardtail mtb. I am the father of two boys and have not been riding as much as I like. Now that they're older and have other interests, hopefully I can get back into it. Don't plan to take up racing again.
Ahoy! As one who's lived within spitting distance of the Silver Spring metro station, I figured I ought to shout at ya! I've been living in Tokyo for about five years now, got a five year old daughter (you do the math), and wish I could get out on the bike more. I was back in MD for the '03 holidays, and was surprised by the number of riders out on the roads. When last I resided in the state, it was not like that (if memory serves!) and, as a large percentage of the bikes I saw were TREK road bikes, I couldn't help pondering the degree to which Lance's success has brought more people to the saddle. I know we've all heard about his influence, but I had never before seen such convincing evidence of it. I also managed to stop by a bike shop just off East/West Highway, near Silver Spring.... 'The Bicycle Place', I think... ring any bells? Ride on! G-
