Introductions - Hello from Canada 'eh

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Howdy back from the same-
Hope your location lets you get a few rides in. We had sun and lots of it.
Are bikes effective metro police vehicles? as bikers have some diffuculties dealing with motorists- Would be an interesting thread if you feel to pursue. (bad pun..sorry.)

No sun right now. No clear roads. Lots of snow and ice and everything that goes with this time of year. Not like Vancouver island I suppose. I see some of the young mountain bikers out of course!! I like to see them. All guts, they don't care about terrain, dirt, rain, snow.....just riding and good times.
And yes bikes are very effective vehicles for us. We can get to places and problems where the motorcycle cops, mounted units and cruisers can't. I'm a motorcycle cop with the OPP and I learned quickly that our best riders were ex-motocross riders. I suspect that mountain bikers would make pretty good bike cops as well. As far as dealing with motorists usually the bike cops don't get cut off or yelled at by the cages so there isn't much of a problem that way but they are sure sympathetic when a rider goes to them with a traffic problem. It's unfortunate we are such a motor vehicle society but we are and we have to live with it unless something changes. As an accident investigator I'd love to see a lot more bikes and a lot less cars.........would make for easier days!!!!!
