I was out riding with my daughters on Saturday and met up with a fellow on a mid eighties Peugeot 10 speed and being that I was riding my '57 Peugeot we had things to talk about while the girls were taking a rest break.

He said that he was from Montreal and was looking for a good bike shop as he needed a few little things done and I gave him my card and directions to our shop.

He came into the shop tonight and we took care of the few little things hie bike needed (it seems that some folks can't true a wheel) and we had more time to chat...

He wasn't just from Montreal but has ridden FROM Montreal to Edmonton... before getting here he had went all the way to the west coast and had crossed the rockies on a bike with nothing anyone would consider alpine gearing. And then he turned around and crossed them again.

His friend gave him the bike when he heard of his plans to ride across Canada...it had been in storage for about 20 years and looks to be in beautiful shape.

He's been riding 100 km a day neary every day for over a month.

He said he just retired (he's 61) and wanted to do this before he wasn't able to...

I know a few fellows 1/3 of his age who set off to ride form here to the coast a few weeks ago and at last check weren't making 80 km a day... one of the fellows actually bailed and is taking the train.

At first I was pretty impressed, that is a long way, and then I heard his age! Incredible!
