Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - New 05 Pista

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well new to me anyway. Picked her up on the local craigslist for $300, not what I orginally wanted but hey cant really beat the price. I know some people are biased towards the pista and the image the give but thats not me. I was just looking to get into fixed gear riding and found the bike. So far I love the bike its fast and light but the gearing is akward (44/18) so I need to change that, I was thinking something like 44/15 or 16 any recommendations would be great. The bike so far is just the way I bought it I have only had it for 3 weeks or so and everychance I get im on her. Once again this is my first fixie and my first post on here, I hope to learn a lot of info from all you guys and gals out there.

wow, if i could find a bianchi, nevermind a pista, for that price, i'd be all over it.
ya the price was unreal, at first i thought this thing has to be stolen but the kid worked at a local bike shop and was just looking to get rid of it for another build plus the fact he had about four bikes.

looks great -- especially with those components (like the sugino messenger chainring). i'd definitely try a 16t in the back.
Thanks. Ya I def need to do something with the gearing I dont know why he set it up like that. Any recommendations on a cog, something kinda cheap but reliable?

I would go 15 or 17 as then you will get the most skid patches and have the longest rear tire life. If you are into skidding that is. If you like that saddle stick with it, but that is one of the first things I changed on my pista. I also got a different bar, but a better drop bar not a flat bar.
Hope you enjoy your new neuter (get it? I am not very clever.)

Damn, thats a steal! I want a pista, they look so good. Im running 48/16 and i think its perfect. Although you only get one skid patch with it.

Ya I was thinking 15 because of the skid patch. That would also give me more speed compared to 44/18 if i am correct?

Ya i was pretty luck. The bike was only on there 1 day before i saw it and i picked it up the next day. I had been looking for a little over a month before i found it. I guess patients is the key.
