Folding Bikes - Where to find small wheels??

I am building a recumbent and need a 16” narrow rim for the front wheel. I also need a fork and tire to match. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can buy them from? I would like a narrow high pressure tire if possible.

I have been posting in the “Recumbent” forum but though that the “Folding Bikes” forum might have some good suggestions.

Suggest a Recumbent or Folder Dealer. Local one here also sells fboth - small wheels are a pretty normal thing for them. Also have a selection of 20" tires.

The best narrow rims you can get are by Velocity (an Australian company). You can get Aeroheat rims in 25mm width and Aerohead in 19mm - both are the ISO 349 size. They aren't the easiest things to get hold of (I get mine sent to the UK from an Ozzy recumbent shop) but they were worth shipping that far being narrow, stiff and very cool looking compared to the normal rims available for Bromptons.

I'd search out dealers that stock any Velocity size as they may be able to get them as a special order. Beware though - Velocity seem to make these sizes in batches according to dealer demand so it's quite easy to find them listed but not in stock with the manufacturer not having inventory available till they have sufficient worldwide orders to warrant their manufacture.

I think that I am going to go with the Velocity Rims, but what about a fork to fit it. I would like one with V brake mounts already attached. That would save me the effort of doing it my self. Most BMX forks that I have found don’t have them.

Hmm... The forks off one of the Brompton clones - the Nishiki Oxford or Flamingobike probably has v-brake mounts for the correct size and might be an avenue of discovery - if you can find somewhere that will sell spares for those bikes. Otherwise you might need to find a 'can do' person with a hacksaw and a brazing torch to shorten / custom make you some.
