Ok folks, question for you all...

I just moved from WI to IL, and am looking for good routes. I'm afraid I picked not to great a spot for cycling. Eh... PM me if you want to know more, I'll give you my address, and my work address to give you more info! I'd appreciate it a TON!

Look on the bright side: it's only a three hour trip back up to the good Wisconsin riding!

I lived in Peoria for five years and my limited experience riding in the city itself was that it's not the greatest. Tight streets with drivers would don't give much leeway. That's more than a decade ago, so maybe it's changed somewhat, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Get out of town up along the Illinois River and there may be better riding.

aham23 may have some ideas about riding over in Tazewell County.

i grew up in that area. ah yes, i recall riding my Schwinn Traveler between Creve Couer and Pekin in order to see my girl. the good old days. :)

i was a kid though and didnt do any hardcore roadie riding. i do know that there are some excellent single track in and around that area. CAMBr has some info on this stuff here. (http://cambr.org/SMF/index.php?board=21.0)

i have friends who live in the Dunlap area and when visiting i always think it looks like a decent place to ride. nice rolling low traffic roads for the most part.

if i were you i would hit up some local bike shops and ask them the 4-1-1 on road riding in Peoria.

later.

Advice? Sometimes mental suffering while training is a good asset for races.

Good luck :)
