Im losing weight but..........i havent been "regular" in the last 2-3 days. My stomach has been making some hella weird noises. Im not sure what it is...but im starting to think its because ive been eating way too much protien. Ive been eating chicken all day on top of that, more protien in shakes and in eggs. I think im gonna lay off the protien for a day or 2 and see what happens.

Eat more fiber. Kashi Go Lean cereal will do the trick.

To explain further. With the increase in protein you should also increase you fibre. Protein helps you become less and less 'regular' and fibre shuld counter that. The only thing protein gives you is gas :D

My wife is doing Atkins and is having the same problem.

I'm taking a "Zone" approach which has been keeping things "regular."

Steady loss of about 2lbs per week.

Hrmm...ive been eating about 20 grams of fiber a day..does that seem enough for a 21yr old 194lbs male?

I think you've answered your own question. That sounds like a very dysfunctional diet. It's probably also hammering your kidneys, as they work to excrete the excess nitrogen from all that protein.

Also, you're probably losing calcium for the same reason (Excess dietary protein can adversely affect bone - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=9614169&dopt=Abstract).

oh yeah..i know my diet sucks...its the best i can afford. Veggies and fruits are wayyyy expensive in these areas and worse during the winter months. im going to try to find a way around these prices so i can eat something more balanced...would you believe if i told you i dont remember the last time i ate a piece of fruit?

Hi,
buy a bag of frozen bluberries and another of frozen mixed fruit. Buy some soy milk and some bananas. I like to let the bananas ripen a while as they get sweeter. Throw about 12oz of soy milk in the blender, add some protein and blend a little. I add a 1/4 tsp of Splenda at this point, but I also use unsweetened soy milk. Most soy milk has added sugar, so you won't have that problem. Don't even think of adding any sort of milk (I use milk protein powder, even that tends to obsure the taste of the fruit a little). Add a banana or two, and a half cup each of the frozen bluberries and mixed berries. In the summer I add all sorts of fresh fruit, and sometimes I will throw in frozen peaches or fresh kiwi just for a little variety. That is my breakfast. I add a tbsp of flax oil, but is optional.
