Classic & Vintage - Look what I got today. (hint: it rhymes with Nerckz)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This arrived today, and the question is: what do I do with it?

For now I will clean it, wax it and build it with a mix of C-record/ 8 speed Record and she how it rides. It will need new paint(I don't mind the nicks or cosmetic rust I can see, but the paint bubbles here and there worry me.) So:

1. How do I contain the rust for now?(is very light, and just on the surface)
2. When the time comes, how should I paint it?
3. I'll likely build it with the 8-speed group, but I also have a '72 Nuovo Record group, this could be a real nice Molteni Replica. (But then I need another frame for the 8-speed group.)

Not to mention orange paint. :D

Looks like a nice project. Your size I trust?

Nice!

It is early 80's so personally I would go with the Nuovo Record.

Like you said, clean and wax. If there are rust bubbles then I gently scrape the bubble away and remove the rust on the steel with steel wool or emery paper and then wax right over it.

I love Molteni themed bikes, I would go with that first and a Faema job second.
