So I raced in a team of 2 for an 8 hour mountain bike race and we did what we wanted to do not be last

anyways... my muscles feel fine now but my appetite is out of control I can't seem to not be hungry even an hour after a meal I feel hungry.

any tips on foods that will be slow to digest so that my body is not feeling so hungry all the time

I ate lots of granola and fresh fruits and a few gels too the day of the race along with PB and J sandwiches

then after the event we all went out and I polished of a hot turkey sandwich with baked potatoes and peas

For me, eating nuts help control cravings. Great source of good fat and other nutrients. Don't eat TOO any though; a handful's usually good enough.

Anything with sugar also helps, but not recommended for doing all of the time.

Your body is trying to replenish its glycogen reserves. Try going for a 45 min recovery ride with 120bpm then eat some carbs when you are done. It's a theory that works for me.

My theory is
When you eat a load of sugar insulin gets released, we all know that.
When you are exercising insulin release is limited, we all know that.
When we finish exercising we have about a 45min window to eat carbs knowing these sugars will replenish the glycogen stores while the insulin is still in exercise jail.

We know yours are still depleted but if you take in to much sugar now you will produce insulin and store it as fat before the glycogen stores get replenished.

So we trick the body into thinking we are exercising while using a low heart rate(not using up to much more glycogen) putting insulin in jail. Then get your eat on so the sugar gets put in the right place.

It works for me. If it doesn't work for you let me know please. because it's just my own theory with know basis. I'm no doctor or nutritionist just someone whom reads a lot and had the same problem after centuries. I thought it up, tried it, and now I make sure I eat a lot right after the ride and do this recovery thing the next day and am fine after that.

This seems like something good to try for me also.
