I'm trying to set up a bike with RSX 8-speed shifters and a top pull front derailleur. There's not enough cable pull from the shifter to allow the Nexave der to shift to all three chainrings. Is there a front der with a longer arm to provide more throw? I've tried some other ders (34.9) with no success. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've never personally tried but Shimano says that STI's won't work with mountain front derailleurs. They might be right.

......but that doesn't seem right because CX & tour bikes are often spec'd with STI's and mtb derailleurs.
Maybe his STI is simply not triple ring compatible...??

Actually it is a triple! Good point though...

How does the cable attach to the derailleur arm? Sometimes you can run the cable the wrong way around the anchor bolt (closer to the fulcrum) and gain a little extra travel.

I've done that with road ders., but it won't work with this one... :(

Thanks for the good solutions so far, keep 'em coming!

I doubt it. I use a 105 STI with a MTB XTR fornt and a MTB LX rear. They work as well as with XTR/XT MTB shifters which I have on my ATB.
