A friend of mine talked me into doing the Philadelphia West River Drive Time Trial by saying, Hey, you should do this. So I did.

I did my first time trial since '85 or so just at the end of last month. Everybody passed me, but I didn't set the record for the slowest time ever. I forgot to ask if they had a record for times by people wearing t-shirts. I had a blast.

I ride with this guy, folks! :)
Congratulations on the first of what will undoubtedly turn out to be many TT events.

I had no idea what to expect at this event, and I think that is what made it so much fun. Plus, there was a very wide variety of people and abilities - there were the guys in skinsuits and $$$$ bikes, little kids, and then fat guys on regular road bikes (ME!). It was a good time.

As long as I don't get some silly award for "best time by crooked-legged rider", OK, I'll consider it. :)

As long as you don't wear a TT helmet backwards or something, there will be no mockery. :roflmao2:

OK, how about a skinsuit - Disco, of course - and I shave my legs?

Whatever floats your boat, bro! And shaving the legs makes you the teensiest bit more aero. hehe

Just whatever you do don't ride your commuter bike with fenders, racks, lights, sidewall dynamo and some big fat tires. Of course if you got the speed it might be worth it just to embarrass folks. I don't have the speed.
I am thinking about adding coroplast disc wheels for next years and leaving all my commuting gear on ;)

The comment about my wearing Discovery kit was an inside joke - Dan once said he'd never ride with me if I wore Disco stuff.
I don't have the speed either.

Well, since you don't ride "with" anyone in a TT, you can go ahead and wear the Disco kit. However, I will do my best to see that "Stayin' Alive" is blaring from a speaker somewhere.

If ever I ride a Time Trial, this just has to be done.
Now all I need is a TT where they don't mind timing you with a sun dial.

You could always try a downhill TT! :roflmao2:

How about a weight corrected TT, we take the heaviest rider, for the guy 10lbs lighter, we add a 10lb weight, for the guy 150kbs lighter we add a 150lb weight...... I'd like to see some 150lb guy with an 100lb weight on the rear and another 50lb plate on the front, haul butt up a big hill.:D

I'm actually thinking of doing this to a couple of guys I ride with who are about 80 pounds lighter than I am. I'm going to load up a backpack or two with the weight and have them wear them on our next ride. Then we'll see how it goes!:D

I like the way you think.
My specialty is descending, followed closely by coasting.

:roflmao2: Although, with losing weight, I find I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.
