Fifty Plus (50+) - 50 today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's ok. Most of the members here recognize the overwhelming urge to be a part of this group. You can be excused a youthful exuberance this one time.
Congratulations on turning 50...:)

I have my reservations ...
Just what is an "unterhausen?"
I know "unter" means under.
And according to Britannica On-Line, "hausen" is a large species of sturgeon.
Under Sturgeon? Just what the heck is that all about? I have to know more before I throw my arms open in welcome.

Your journey is nearly complete, you may enter if of you answer this simple question: What is the air speed of a swallow?

Nice work. I did it myself back in July. It was a little devastating at the time. I'm over that and on to new crises.

Would that be an African or European swallow?

Hey, where have you been lately, JT?

Trick question? Or have you taken the Air density into account for the two continents and made allowance for it?
And Unterhausen- now you have taken this step- there is no looking back.
At our age- you would get a crick in the neck.

I also need to know if the swallow is laden or unladen. As in, would the swallow be attempting to carry a coconut?

Keep in mind that the birds will be carrying coconuts.

Keep in mind that the birds will be carrying coconuts.
Then I would say about the speed of a stone.
But back to Unterhausen- What bike and how long have you been riding? Then there is the PIE question but you may have to refer to previous postings to get the answer to that one.
And Welcome by the way.

answer this simple question: What is the air speed of a swallow?
Hmmmmm
That would be
Vx+Vy/2 x 1.5 = Vc

Blue.

all my bikes are blue, was that the question?
actually Unterhausen means loser (think opposite of Oberhausen or Uberhausen), but I didn't realize that at first. It's a bad translation of my name from German, to English and back to German again. Some joker used to call my dad that, so I adopted it.
I mostly ride an early '80s Italian racing bike, but I have a tandem, a touring bike, mountain bikes, and a unicycle. I built frames my youth, and the tandem and touring bike I made for myself. I'm resurrecting a racing frame I made since the Italian frame is looking pretty ragged. Hoping to get the tandem on the road with my son, he's a little suspicious of having me drive for some reason.
