Northeast - 2008 Lancaster Covered Bridge Metric ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you can confirm your attendance in the 2008 Lancaster Covered Bridge Metric Century, please choose your preference for a meetup time.

Note that we really should be rolling 15 or 20 minutes after that to allow time for photos. :)

I voted for 8am, but honestly, whatever the bulk of folks want to do I'll manage - although 7am is just ridiculous and cruel :D

Wish I could be there this weekend but it's just not going to work out this year. Everyone have a great ride and be safe! I'm sorry I won't get to see your new bike, grahny. It looks nice!

Since I suppose I started this whole early roll-out idea, here's the thing. There's a group of folks I ride with regularly most Saturdays. There's another group I ride with during the week. Sometimes the groups intermingle, sometimes they don't.

So, on the MS ride in Lancaster County in July, I rode with the weekday group. The weekend group gave me a boatload of baloney about "ditching" them. All in jest. Anyway, I promised to join the "ditched" team on the Covered Bridge ride.

And they're leaving at 7:30. And if I leave later, I don't have a prayer of catching them.

Plus, I've gotten used to riding earlier in the mornings on the weekends, and kinda like getting done by noon! More time to hang around, talk, etc. And I'd much rather hang around AFTER the ride is done than during when my legs get stiff way too quickly. Quick water stops, a limited lunch stop, and an extended post-ride hangout are my plan :)

^ So if we all show up at 7:30, think we can stall them for 10min? Guilt trip before the road trip? "one or two quick pictures and then we're out of here" :)

Ah, that sucks. There's always next year though! I'll try and hang onto this frame for the next 12 months :D

The photo delay might happen. . . I'll just stomp my foot and demand it. Yeah, that might work

Thing is. . . looking at the list . . . how many of the group from last year are actually going to be there? Thinking about the line we were in when The Crash Happened, who from that line is coming?

And Dave, you get a pass this year. . . new baby at home and all . . . I wasn't out doing this when my babies were little either!

Ha! I was at the back of that pack......hanging on lol

I like an 8:00am rollout.....I'm up for 7-7:30, however the projected pace for the early ride makes me a bit shy about keeping up....you'll lose me on the hills as gravity has never been my friend :(

I'd end up riding by myself.....beats the purpose of my attending these ride....

My opinion is that if we're doing two start times, they should be significantly different. Beth has already chosen 7:30. 7:00 would just be obscene. If a second group starts at 8:00, they might as well make it 7:30, so that leaves 7:30 and 8:30. However, I'm wondering if we will have enough people to make two groups? Has anyone heard from SpongeDad and Bibi?

My preference would be for 8:30. I've seen the sun rise before, I have a good memory, and I do not need to see it again.
However I am doing the LiveStrong Challenge the following week, and that has a start time of 7:30, so I might as well suck it up and go for the earlier start time... DOH! I just hope the hotel restaurant opens early enough.

I haven't heard from Bibi and Spongedad . . . think we would've heard from them by now if they were coming.

Also, no Chip and Cheri . . .

It's going to be a beautiful day!

It's Greenfield road corporate center (not sure of the actual # though - it's on the same side of Rte 30 as the Hampton Inn)... just look for the 3,000 cars going in that direction :)

guess its ok to put Hampton Inn's street address on the GPS. I'm driving from NJ that's why I wanted to know. Thank you

Yup... all you really need to do is get to that exit and you'll see all the action. It's really easy to find since it's right off Rte 30.

I am not sure if I can make it at 7:30...the Holiday Inn is like .3 miles from the start...all DOWN hill. :D

It will be rough but if that is the choice... :roflmao2:

Now what about Sat evening? Anyone up for doing the 20-25 mile loop?

Ok, I'm in for 7:30... same place right? to the right of the registration area?

I may be up for a Sat evening ride - I've got to see how tomorrow goes (early ride tomorrow too - will be down in Lanc by 4pm though).

We should set a time/place for a sat evening ride so anyone who is down and wants to ride will know where to go.

Sounds like that's the most popular opinion, so we should definitely go with that.
