Northern California - I think we need to do a NorCal ride for pansies

and I'm the one to organize such a ride. You know, rolling hills or flat at a cool, slightly breezy locale with a Starbucks and good eateries at the start and finish. No more than 50 miles with plenty of regroups (OK, breaks). A ride where you can take your non-cyclist significant other along and she/he won't strangle you in front of the other riders.

If you all agrre with me and think this is a ride we need, let me know and I'll put one together. I know this is what I need to get some time on the saddle and still be with the family. Sorta like having my cake and eating it too.

If it's on a Sunday and not Aug 24th then I may be game. I'd take the wife but she wouldn't do anywhere near 50 miles... Maybe I'll pull my 7yo daughter in her trailer.

You could do a down the blvd and back ride on San Ramon Valley Blvd. I know of at least 3 Starbucks and one Peet's Coffee along the route. From Bollinger to Whole Foods in Walnut Creek and back is about 20 miles, so you could start in Dublin and stretch it to 30. Include a run up the Moraga trail to the park (Moraga Commons) and back, and you can easily grab 40 easy, scenic, and close to coffee shops miles.

I do these coffe runs all the time with my wife and 13 year old daughter.

Or, you could take the Iron Horse Trail (or SRV Blvd) from Walnut Creek down to Ameci's in Pleasanton and back. That would be easy, close to the same conveniences, and 35-40 miles as well. Ameci's has an awesome pizza, pasta dishes, and a great anti-pasta salad. This is another one of my family's favorite rides.

We might be interested in a panzeeeeeee ride! :thumb: It all depends on the date as a few of our upcoming weekends are already booked.

Kids, strollers, dogs, segways... you name it. It is a MUP, and an old railroad right of way. Therefore, it can never exceed 2% incline, and is usually flat or 1%. It is perfect for kids.
