Yahoooooo!

I received in the mail yesterday my REI 'Round Town panniers (http://www.rei.com/product/733820). Today I went grocery shopping and was thrilled at how much easier it was to bring home the two sacks of food. On Saturday I used a fairly large single waterproof pannier and I thought my bike was going to topple over at every red light (and don't ask about trying to remain balanced when I was getting off the bike :twitchy:

No more of that!

Okay, the panniers aren't perfect: it would be nice if the top clips actually clipped on to the rack, and I can see the snaps eventually tearing off, but so far so good.

And I'll bet they'll be easier for bringing parcels to the post office and trips to the library, the video rental place, my mom's for more of my junk, yard sales for more junk, etc et-happy-cetera!

I "now" have panniers. Crummy syntax! Sorry!

Do you unclip them and take them in the grocery store? That's usually what I do, although I'm using general purpose panniers. The grocery bag filler guy is always struggling trying to fill it, but I get a refund of 5 cents per bag... which should pay for the panniers round about 2018.

Yep. Having the right tools for the job makes all the difference in the world. One of these days I want a trailer.

Yes, I do unclip them and take them with me into the store. The store I go to doesn't refund me 5¢ for each bag, they charge me 5¢ for each bag I take (hence the panniers). At least the ride is a lot more balanced than before.

I'd really like to get a trailer too. That would make the trip to the laundromat much easier, faster, and more fun.

Hey, I've had those panniers for years. The snaps are still intact. What is wearing out is the canvas at the corners where the plastic bottom rubs on the inside and the corners rub against things on the outside. I posted a picture a couple years ago of mine loaded for a camping trip. I tend to over stuff them on multi day trips. Hey I got room in here we may as well bring that kitchen sink( or whatever stupid thing we won't really need).
