Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Used Redline 925--My First Fixie?

I can get my hands on a used (moustache bar) 925 at an ok price. It will be my first singlespeed/fixie ever. I'm inclined to go for it, but would be interested in anyone else's thoughts on this bike--and on getting started as a fixed gear newbie.

bars are super easy to change.

Comfortable frame geometry. Great for commuting. Bomb proof, as long as you don't blow it up with a bomb. You will like it.

What's an OK price? It's a decent bike for $250ish.

Is it a 56, with a tiny dent above the bb, and a Miami bike store sticker? If so, it was stolen from me in Miami!

I liked the bike. Full fenders were really useful here. It's a compact frame, and the geometry seemed a little cramped to me, compared to traditional road bikes. I also found the moustache bars unusable because of the frame feel. Straight bar was way better. Flip flop hub is nice, especially for beginners.

Some of the little details are better on this bike, compared to what I've seen on BD bikes that are (retail) priced only a little less. Used, the 925 price should be a steal.

I'd buy one again if I could find my size.

I have one, really modified, but it's a great bike. If you don't wan't to do a convert, a used 925 is a great place to start.

I have an "07 925. I like it a lot except for the sloping top tube but that's just the way it looks. My nut sack is ok with it when I ride.
Mine is also modified a lot. The seat post is stock, and head set. I had to paint it to get rid of the 19 Redline decals.

I adore my 925. The flip flop hub is awesome to accqauint yrself with the fixie. I still mainly ride feewheel. I paid three bills for my '07 and have so far sunk in around another four into the bike and I love it. I AM however waiting to find a decent turnaround time for powdercoating, cause like the post above mentioned, at NO point does this bike let you even think about forgetting it's a Redline. I think the last time I saw something on wheels with so many logos, I must have accidentally left the television on NASCAR, but aside from that, if you can walk away with dropping about 300, then I say go for it!
