I was just wondering if anyone knows what kind of trainer this is. I have never seen anything like it.

i don't think it's home made...unless he has a way to mold plastic. the yellow thing looks like it has paddles for air resistance...then again, maybe he found a 6 spoke mag track wheel and ziptied the flat pieces on there. it also probably has it's own cassette hub on there with that big chainring attached.

it could be home made, but it looks too fancy...

it also looks like it's doing the trick, as far as resistance is concerned....I WANT TO SEE VEINS IN MY TEETH!!!!

No kidding! Are there any obvious benefits to using such a trainer?

That seems like a complete rip-off. Read their page describing how their trainer is "so unique." (All that and it allows them to modify "unique" as well. Amazing!) All the page says is how great the trainer is, since it makes everyone better by using specific exercises. As if you can't do any kind of specific exercises on a regular trainer. Then, they go on to say that one cyclist improved his 15 second power performance by 18% over 2 year ("quite a considerable improvement"). Immediately following that, they write about a group of trained cyclists averaging a 17.7% increase in 15 second power performance in just 3 weeks. That's quite a time difference for almost the same power increase.

well, in the second case, they were a GROUP of TRAINED cyclists...so maybe they're averaging it, or adding it all up or something...

either way, there are much cheaper air resistance-based trainers availible.

RIP....OFFF.

Looks like something from Spongebob Squarepants.

so then why is one of the 7up guys using one? as a side note remember that one of the 7up squad won the national championship crit in '03, but then again who knows if they used this trainer.

I was thinking the same, plus..... with guns like those, me thinks maybe he can't get enough resistance with a typical mag unit.
