The reviews of these chains have been very favorable. Supposedly quieter and smoother than Shimano. Very light, and with the Ti Nitrite coating supposed to be long lasting.
My question is whether they're strong enough for tandem use. Their marketing literature claims they're stronger than typical chains, but the 240 gram weight makes me sceptical.
We destroyed one after 1,000 miles of tandem use. We are a light team too (250 lbs) but we ride lots of hills, stand a lot and shift while standing.
I wasn't and am not unhappy with how long it lasted but I am keeping a close eye on the new one.

Destroyed as in broke it, or destroyed as in stretched (really worn).
I'm not too concerned about the lifespan, although that is awfully short . Obviously breaking is a concern.

The lifespan doesn't bother me either, I figure the bike is so expensive that it is well worth maintaining.
Destroyed as in many of the outer plates were gouged and starting to crack. The indication of the beginnings of a problem was when the chain starting to jump on the rear cogs when I wasn't shifting. Actually after inspecting the chain and noticing all the really nasty wear I was quite impressed that in spite of all the visiable damage the chain didn't break on us.
Like I said, I'll be keeping a closer eye on the drive chain......
