Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Looking for 3 bolt chainring

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I recently picked up an older road bike and stripped it down to convert to a fixie. I want change the gearing up a little bit but cannot find a 3 bolt chainring anywhere. I would rather not purchase a whole new crankset, any suggestions???

3 bolt? never seen that before. you can get some cheap bulletproof cranks. those are 5 bolt 110mm bolt pattern. you'll be able to find chain rings pretty easy for those

I have seen a French seller on ebay who sometimes sells them. I have a spare 52t 3-bolt chainring from my old conversion as well. I've asked around at LBS's before, and they say they typically throw them away rather than hang onto them in parts bins, due to the technology being a little outdated.

Are you talking about rings for steel cottered cranks? I checked out Loose Screws - http://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi a site that specializes in hard to find parts, especially for old bikes, and even they dont have 'em. You may be better off upgrading.
I've got the rings for trade off my old french bike, pm if you're interested
...then again, you likely have the exact same rings...
