I'm looking at getting a 98 Rocky Mountain and it has an old Marzocchi Bomber X-Fly (Z2 I think). Does anyone know how well these things hold up and if I might need to replace the fork? I have no idea what kind of condition it's in, but I assume it's been ridden regularly.
Those old Bombers were really durable, but if it's been ridden regularly for the past ten years then it will need an oil change at least - and maybe an overhaul.
The X-Fly was not as durable as many of the Bombers of the same era. Check the o-ring seal between the cryofit arch and the fork legs.
As an added benefit, they were also pretty flexy compared to Bombers of the same era.
