Foo - I'm outta here for two months, going on a bike ride.

Not really a Canada - > Mexico ride if it starts in Roosville, Montana.

More like a Montana -> Mexico ride.

Thanks so much you guys. I've been a mess since I left the hospital, crying nonstop. I've never seen my dad like this before, and I'm really scared right now. :( Your thoughts mean a lot.

I know it's scary, but he's at the best place possible. Hospitals are for just this sort of thing ya know, and they know what they are doing. Obviously you 2 have to put the trip off, but I've got high hopes for modern medicine and some family TLC to fix him up. Foo's positive attitude can't hurt either. Prayers, well wishes, and high hopes and expectations of the hospital sent your way. :)

Heather,

I felt the same way when the doctors found arterial blockage in my father and had to install stints. Almost 10 years later he is still with us, playing and coaching tennis, running a food pantry, and having a blast. Stay tough and be there for him.

Thanks everyone. I feel a lot better today. Yesterday, we spent 3+ hours with him in the hospital reading to him and hanging out. He is taking a positive outlook on it all and even has a sense of humor about it. I think he's going to be ok, but it was quite a shock to see him that way. Hopefully he is doing better today, we are going to see him later.

Heather, Brother (my eldest sib) had a stroke this spring.
It's scary as hell, but things get better. Vic is now driving again, and if I did not know the nuances of his speech I would have no idea that he had ever had one.
It's amazing how important a sense of humor and the positive outlook are.

Hope all goes well, and for what it's worth, if there is anything I may do, I will.

Hearing these personal accounts is very encouraging. I'm glad your brother and other stroke victims were able to recover so well. I really hope I can say the same for my dad. Everything is kind of up in the air right now until they do another MRI.

Anyway, thanks once again for all the thoughts and prayers.

Thanks guys. He seemed to be doing better when we saw him yesterday. He can swallow now and his double vision is gone. I'm going back today to see how he's doing. I think I'll take my guitar again, he seemed to like that yesterday.

Remember to be as cheerful and smiley as possible. At least it always seemed to work best when my grandma was in the hospital. Don't wanna get upset over someones condition when they're trying to recover. At least not in their presence. It's much better to be cheerful and help give the patient a positive attitude to feed off of. :)
