So I'd like some suggestions for a compact crank for my Bianchi Axis. It is a 2006 Axis with a tripple on it and Tiagra shifters. I want to upgrade in the process. I've tried a number of compact cranks from Performance Bike. On several the crank arms hit the rear chain stays. The rear chain stays are way wide.

I'll be using it for cross racing and some commuting. I'm 6' tall and I think the 175 arm length is good, I think. I checked with the LBS Bianchi dealer and they did not know the answer. Their suggestion was shorter crank arms.

I'm wondering if anyone has had success with a particular compact / BB on their Axis.

I have a 06 Axis. I currently run a 1x9 set up (42 front 11/32 rear). To run a 42 on the inside with a bash gaurd on the outside i had to go with a longer bottom bracket axle. Did you try using the same bottom bracket that came with the tripple? Or did you try what they tried to sell you with the crank?

I used the BB's that came with the cranks as they were all different from the existing BB, that is to say the cranks would not fit on the existing BB. I haven't found any cranks for the square BB the bike has on it now.
