Northeast - MA: Any routes from greater boston to NH?

There's the Boston->P-Town route, and looking at a map, something tells me there's got to be an established route from Boston to NH that's not I-93.

It's just my curiosity. Also, I guess it'd be pretty cool to bike from here to there...

Well, the Route 1 is horrible. I would not take the route from Boston to Provincetown. Most of the route 1 signs are placed haphazardly. The route is definitely circuitous and goes through some very tough intersections.

You'll discover that most of the membership in the clubs such as the CRW do not ride inside the 128 area.

I ride on the south side of Boston. I do not ever venture to the north side. It is like a different world and to be honest the culture is rather failing. There are several routes used by centuries to get from Reading to NH. There is a route for boston to NH for the B2B, which is probably no good as I heard some stories about this year's ride.

I recommend looking at some of the roads going along the coast towards newburyport.

You can take Route 1A. It winds up through Lynn, Salem, Beverly, Hamilton, Wenham, Ipswich, Rowley, Newburyport, Salisbury and into Seebrook, NH and on to Hampton, Rye and Portsmouth. It is a very nice ride and it is not a divided highway like Route 1 is in some spots. The portions through Hamilton, Wenham and Rye, NH have awesome views. The Rye portion takes you right along the ocean. There are plenty of places to stop along the route for food, drink, restroom, etc. The only downside is there are some portions that are not as clearly marked as they should be.

Look into the Rubels maps. I took the commuter train to Newbury last year and camped at Salisbury SP. I rode along RT1a to Portsmouth, nice ride, quiet road, a lot along the shore. Heading south from the campground along 1A to Ipswich to Rt133 to Gloucester and camped there. Out of Gloucester onto Rt 127 to 1A to Salem (town camground , very good). Leaving Salem on 1A to 114 back to 1a to Lynn. along the Lynnway to any "T" stop back into Boston
