hehe! You're NOT a native Floridian, are you? Barring outrageous circumstances, (which, admittedly, have happened before), IF Fay does come it will be no more than a Cat 1 `cane, and I don't do any more than throw the patio furniture in the pool for a Cat 1!

Truth of the matter is the hundreds of 24/7/365 news channels have to have something to horrify people with, and Fay is it for today! My best guess is that the Tampa Bay area won't get any more than a whole lot of rain and sub-50mph winds. That's just a normal day in the pacific northwest! :)

The "Forcast Discussion" is what you want to pay attention to, and down at the bottom is what their best guess is currently. In the current discussion, (#8), and on the predicted track, they only expect it to reach hurricane force winds for a brief period between Cuba and the keys.

But they do hedge their bets and opt to prepare the populace for a `cane anyway, (see Public Advisory #8), and as soon as they do the media goes into a frenzy!

All that having been said, a Hurricane Warning is a GREAT excuse for a Hurricane Party! So what time's it start and what should we bring??!!

P.S. If the power does go out, Diet Coke is NASTY when warm! Stock up on Gatorade instead!

I live right on the beach (Juno) and what is weird to me is
how calm the ocean is right now. Usually, anything within a
1000 miles will bring 6 foot tubers right up to the beach but
its amazingly calm right now. Sort of Omenus :eek:

Shouldn't bring more than rain over here, no matter what. Although... remember that one in '05 that did a loop and rolled back at us? I always have unperishable canned goods, and some jugs to fill with water if the shizzle threatens to hit the fan. Other than that, no sense frettin'.

Understood. I've never seen a season like 2004! Yet even then we never got hit with anything that was worth boarding up the windows for, (although I did it 3 times that year!). Tampa Bay has proved to be a hard target. Last one I recall coming directly thru here was in `63 or `64 when I was a kid!

Oh, and the only acceptable food substance at a hurricane party that requires cooking is stuff that someone else cooks, i.e., take-out! It's a PARTY! No one's supposed to be pattying up burgers, marinating steaks, or dicing up stuff for kabobs! You just throw some cold cuts on the table and tell everyone to bring chips or dip or potato salad or dessert!

Alternately, if you decide to go the take-out route, you call around and find out who is still open. (When the power goes it rarely goes out in the whole city, and I guarantee you a ton of bars that serve food will be open even when all the pizza joints are closed!) You draw straws for who goes to get it, then run a pool on how long it will take them in the pouring rain with flooded streets!

Other than that, you turn on the weather channel, (muted), put on some Jimmy Buffet, break out the cards and enough change for a looooong penny-ante poker game and you're done! :lol:

So far, Miss Fay isn't even a good excuse for a party! Thought I'd wake up to at least some rainy weather this morning. I should be grateful, but I hate missing a day riding cause the weatherman told me I could sleep in! :mad:

TS Fay? I went out riding late this afternoon/early evening and it was breezy and I got soaked. Then again where I live (Gainesville) we are not going to get the worst of it.

So, not looking good for me. If this thing intensifies to a Cat 1, it looks to be coming in my front door on Thursday morning.

Well, I'm in Melbourne where we've been taking all Fay has offered so far. Only one flicker of the power, still eating hot food, drinking cold water, watching the Olympics and reading what you toeclips have had to say today. =)

Yea, you have had it better than a few years ago, that's for sure. My sister lives in Satellite Beach and she said it has not been too bad, but the nasty stuff had not really come around at that point. Stay safe.

It's not really windy, maybe 35-40mph, and there are more than a couple kids out playing in it, but my street is flooded pretty bad along with the rest of the neighborhood. I've drained my pool 3 times already because it keeps flooding out my backyard. All I can do is :popcorn and:winter:

No doubt. I'm tired of being stuck in my house and I don't feel like going outside to run around in backed up sewage water. There are lot's of people out in it, then you know they just go inside and take a shower which only adds to the problem. :rolleyes:

We've had lots of wind (15-30 mph) yesterday and today. The weather guessers have been forecasting "HEAVY" rain for two days but it's been dry, just cloudy. So I said why not and decided to go riding today. Started sprinkling (very light) before I'd gone a mile. The roads were barely wet as I rode but the wind and gusts made riding tricky in spots. Glad I decided to go. It was fun. Haven't been out in weather like that in a while. :)
Here's what we're currently getting. The weather folks are saying we'll get pounded on Sunday and Monday. :rolleyes:

I road an out and back route that headed directly east on Friday. This was the first time I recall having head wind that brutal on that route. The ride back was ausome though, 10 miles at 20 to 25 mph even on hilly terrain. Fay sat on top of us all day yesturday and and it's still raining this mourning. A couple more days of this and we might actually catch up on our water supply.

I rode a century in the middle of the storm on Saturday with three other lunatics. Aside from the 30+ mph head-wind on our return home, it was fun.
