Welcome to the forums. I've little experience with tandems myself, but I'm sure you'll find some useful information in that particular section. :)

Don't know what is available in Canada, but check out some websites pertaining to tandems. There should be some dealers in Canada's big cities.
However, post your questions and you will surely get answers. Been long-time tandemers and have tandemed in Canada; matter of fact back in '87 did a tandem rally near Toronto and used to race and tour in parts of Ontario in the 70s! Also rode in Regina, lovely place to pedal!
Sticker shock ($$$) is usually the first thing about tandems. But remember you are getting a bike-for-2 for that money!
A used tandem usually is a good way to get going; don't spend too much, learn, and after a time of riding you'll know if its for the 2-of-you; then perhaps look for something a bit better.
Good luck!

Welcome!!

Tandems are a good way to close the riding gap between you and your fiance.

Do you make a good Haggis? :D
