Great Lakes - Dairyland Dare Ride Reports Go Here.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
just wanted to let you know Stew that the DD was a top notch ride. it was my first go at the DD and riding some of those rodes. the 100k was a fantastic route and difficult for a flatlander from Illinois.
i know some people had issues with the route markings. some of us like to ignore the map and just follow the markings. on a route like yours, you need to use both, or at the very least check the map at each stop. the colors to follow would changed, but those changes were listed on the map.
the rest stops were stocked above and beyond what i normally see. i mean, who the heck is handing out Hammer stuff at every stop? Hammer is gooooood!! you had some great volunteers out there offering up support to the riders. the goodie bag with the pint glass and shirt were cool. purchased a jersey too and dig the design. the food, drink, and massages at the end.....i could go on and on.
we drug as many BFNIC'ers up as we could. heck we recuited some just days prior to the ride. hopefully, you came close to hitting your goal. if not, maybe a scaled back ride for 2009. many of us just love riding the area and would be willing to bring our own Hammer stuff :thumb:.
later.
+1:)

Here are links to the photographer that was out there. Doesn't look like the purchasing is working yet.

i was 14 out 63 200k riders that finished. not to shabby. i could have cut 20 minutes or better, but i lingered at a few of the early stops.

Nice going! I was 15th out of 236 in the 100K, a great result for me.
Me on Roberts Road. I'm starting to figure out that when a photographer is at the top of a hill, it's the toughest climb of the day.

Those are great pics. If my pics ever looked half as good, I'd buy them. I never notice photographers because my head is always down. The few pics I saw of myself are pathetic because I look like I'm having the worst time of my life. Need to pay attention and smile.
I think Psi broke an OCP rule. Aren't you supposed to zip up before getting your pic taken? You're on a team now, can't be looking sloppy!;)

I was 26 out of 63 and 3rd female. Should have stayed aero on the climbs to improve my time:D I lingered long at the top of Shop Hill...or maybe languished is a better word.
I loved this ride. Just so freakingly hard that it was fabulous!

My name didn't show up on the certified results and I thought what happened? Hmm, I know I finished the 300k. WTF!! I think what happened was I thought I was lost and when I got to the Pleasant Ridge Timing chip line and Didn't see any food stop I turned back around thru the timing line and I got out my map and tried to figure out where I was at. Then I saw some other people go by so I rode thru the timing line again and a mile or so there was the rest stop. There wasn't a whole lot of people to ride with at that time so I was hoping that I was going the right way. When I came thru the loop for the second time (actually the third time thru) I did not hear any little chirp sound from the timing line so maybe that was the problem. I finished 15th out of 20 people who finished the 300k. Good Ride.

meh...finished far down on the 133. Gotta chalk that up to taking it easy and getting lost and adding quite a few miles on to the route.
Did the numbers to see where my 100k time was and it was in the top 60. Not bad....meh....

I must have missed some timing line somewhere. Because I really thought I had hit them all... weird.

dont worry dave342 we all know you are Da Man!! great job on doing the 300k! :thumb:
the route markings, mappings, and arrows are really my only complaint. like most doing 200k or more i rode most of the ride solo. you really needed to check the map at each rest stop to make sure what color arrow you were following when you headed back out.
