Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - small milestone

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

After three weeks of owning my new bike I have just passed the 100 mile mark.
Not much I agree, but even in this short time I have noticed a vast improvement
in my ability. Times are not getting much faster due to road and route conditions
(I would rather reach my destination in one piece at a reasonable pace!!) but the
strength in my legs has improved dramatically. This is also assisted by a better understanding
of gear use thanks to this forum.
Newcomers who are thinking of taking up this sport/hobby should be encouraged by all of the
advice and tips available on this forum and get out there. I did it and already feel the
benefits after a short time.

Congrats! That first 100 is the hardest. The rest will come easy.

Small milestones add up to huge ones, remember. We're as thrilled with your small victories as we will be when we hear you did, say, a triple Century in a single day. A victory is good, regardless of the scale.

congratulations it's an addictive hobby.

Congrats on the milestone! I'm not long past that one myself so I remember how good it feels, and it's great to see others succeeding too :)
You may not think it much, but any improvement is great and does mean you get closer to each new milestone.

I would not feel to bad about only doing 100 miles so far. When I got back into bike riding a few months ago, my 10 year old bike only had 150 miles total in that time. :notamused: Now I have over a 650 mile logged in the last few months, along with first metric century last weekend. :D So, you are starting of better then I did for my first 10.:thumb:

Hey, a win is a win, and you win with every mile!
Congrats on getting to the first cable check/tune up. Hopefully your LBS has a deal where they check your cables to see if they have stretched during the break in process around your 100 mile point on a new bike. It's worth checking.
