Foo - Retail Theraphy + Bike Shop = $$$

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So after a long tenure of list lurking the Foo
boards because of work being busy here's
a random update. I really liked this chick
I was dating--hot, smart, etc. But she
kept me in a distant orbit while never really
just saying she wasn't interested. She always
would e-mail me re-initiating the interaction even
though I felt like she was running cold. I got all
sideways about it and finally pulled the plug.
So technically I dumped her but I feel dumped
somehow--the indifference combined with the weird
methods of keeping me on the hook. So I wandered
into my favorite bike shop. When I left they
were building me a rear wheel. Phil high flange hub
laced to Velocity rims with a Phil cog. Bye bye
money hello durable rim. Dating is Russian Roulette
of the heart. Bicycles are always there for me.

I spent 43 dollars on Gap.com last weekend.. There is a reason I have not gone into a bike shop the past couple of weeks. Does that count?

I haven't been dumped in 21 years. (She still loves me!) On the other hand, I am considering dropping some coin on an 84 steelie to get it rideable. Where does this put me?

In the same boat as me...though mine is a 70's steelie. :p

for that stuff, you'll have to date them quite a bit longer than a day...just saying..
the wife is away for a week...miss her like crazy already.
my new carbon fiber seatpost should make me feel a little better....hope it makes it here before she does!!

piece of evidence that women
are expensive.

No, it's just another piece of evidence that men use women as excuses to buy themselves something because deep inside they know they don't deserve it.

Yeah at least women have the gall to just bust out and buy what they want when they want. We can get away with things like that!

Just a side note: I paid for that Moots all on my own. Took me two years to save for it. Nobody gets credit for that. ;)

If I worked overtime to buy it, I earned it. I deserve it, don't I?
And thank you. :) It's my first road bike that I can ride. The one that was gifted to me was too big. :(

its interesting to hear that guys do retail therapy, too... in their own way.
I'm not much of a mall rat myself. After my last "him" I bought new race skis + boots + bindings + season pass + race lessons... gave me something to do for 10 weeks, though.
I also dyed my hair brown, and bought a new car (did need the new shiny red car, but probably could have waited a bit)
I think buying my road bike this spring was still part of my "keeping myself busy/finding new things, etc"... and is the best thing I could have done.

race skis...hrmmmmm maybe I will get some of those too. My p70's are old. But I have gotten into tele skiing this last winter and want to stay with that.

I'd love to get into tele!
or buy a snowboard.
or perhaps a speedboat...
a trip rafting the amazon?
looks like I need to end another significant relationship, then I can make up excuses to do crazy things ;)

I need to finish my single speed full suspension...hmmm....
You wanna date for a while, then we can break up and but the cool stuff we want? :D

tele is fun. So very very very very very (add many more "very" s) different then alpine. I am slowly getting better at it though, definitely worth while picking it up. Of your 4 choices I think Tele is the best :-P

If you can guarantee to go psycho-crazy on me like the last few, we've got a deal.

I'll try going psycho-crazy, but you have to be able to consider only your needs and care nothing about mine.

Same here, no g/f or even dates for about a year now, really can't complain (10 minutes in a day that it sucks, then i forget about it). But in this time i have bought the bike, got into the things i need to do and keep myself somewhat busy.
on the wheels note, will ride this bike until i know i need to upgrade thingys.
I dated myself after I rebuilt my Falcon.

no problem. I'm a gemini, so all I have to do is flip the switch between totally selfless and completely selfish.

Word. Thanks for the idea. I have a very beat up old Chrome bag--but now
run an Ortlieb for commuting and groceries. Brighter color--cars see me.
Maybe I will dig out the old bag.
