hello,

so i have an 80's cannondale criterium that i would like to convert to a single speed. and online ive seen these great looking SS on my exact frame. but the bike stores that i have brough my crit to check out, theyve said that i would need a chain tensioner. I was wondering why the SS crits that i have seen dont have tensioners but im being told i need one. thanks for the help.

You probably don't need a tensioner. Do you have horizontal dropouts? Post a pic.

nevermind. It looks like the bike in the pic found a magic gear ratio that works. 16 in the rear... he says 'small ring,' so probably 42 or maybe 39 up front works with the chainstay lengths. He might have used a half link. E-mail the dude?
