Road Cycling - Pinarello Galileo

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anybody have any experience with these frames? Or deda 7003 aluminum for that matter? I've been looking for reviews and haven't found any, other than roadbikereview.com.
Also, where should i go to buy pinarello frames and stuff? Seems like most websites don't carry pinarello stuff, and i don't want to buy off of ebay.

Try CBike or Chicago Bike for Pinarello frames.
My riding partner bought, as a second bike, a Pinarello Surprise. He now mixes his rides 50/50 with his Pinarello and his composite Giant.
Good luck and ride, ride, ride.

I've heard good things about Competitive Cyclist, and their website certainly looks good to me...the "configure" option allows you to build up the bike, checking weights and prices as you toy with various options.

I've attached a photo of my Pinarello Galileo. I bought it a couple of months ago via ebay, and am extremely happy with the result. I was riding a 5 year old Cannondale, and although I have not yet got the gearing on the Galileo the way I would like, it is a VERY nice ride. It is noticably lighter, and more able to maintain its speed when you hit the hills. It has full Ultegra groupset, plus Mavic Cosmic wheels.

Those mavic cosmic wheels are sweet. I love deep dish rims.
About competitive cyclist, there prices seem higher than other places. Case in point: they sell the colnago master x light frame for 1700, totalcycling has it for 1100. So i'm a bit hesitant to buy from them. I suppose i could just head down to a higher end shop in san francisco and have them build me a complete bike, but i would much prefer to put it together myself.
It's ok, i'm in no rush...I'll probably get around to it this summer. I need to save up some cash first!

Since you have lots of time, I suggest that you watch the classifieds in roadbikereview.com -- from time to time nice Pinarello bikes and frames come up for sale. Although scammers occasionally appear on roadbikereview, they seem rare in comparison to EBay. I bought a Pinarello Opera about a year ago that I found in the roadbikereview classifieds, and got a great bike at a great deal.
Good luck in your search!

I had a bad experience with them.-competitive cyclist. I was inquiring about an upgrade for my pinarello angliru fork and wanted to know the measurement of the steerer tube and the price for a new fork but the guy on the other line was just rude. That just stopped me from ordering parts f and even buying one from them.
Try checking it out with the guys at www.erapro.com They were professional and extremely patient with me. If you need to asking questions, they'll take their time with you.

I have no experience with the bike frame but am having a bike built with this frame and Campy Centaur. I won't get a chance to get the bike out until March(late) probably. I'll try and let you know what I think then...if you are still looking for information.

Cool. Are you getting it built at your LBS?
I am definately not in any rush for a new bike. My friend says he will laugh at me if i get a Pinarello or a Colnago because I'm not nearly fast enough to ride one. He's right, though... for now.

I am extremely pleased with my Galileo. As for being fast enough, it'll make you
feel fast enough. Buy it, enjoy it, and take pleasure from the lovely shade of
green on your friend's face. :D

Yeah I see Marvel too! Even nicer than the Galileo.

Well, it is an 03 Marvel :D and the Galielo is pretty much the same bike. So it says marvel but it is a good indication of this years galileo. Sorry for the mix up. I intended on getting a galileo but got the marvel.
I am sure that you'd enjoy the new Gailieo as much as I enjoy the Marvel.

Yes either way a beautiful bike.
The weather just broke and my Galileo isn't to be completed for another week.
I should have asked for earlier completion date...now I got a real itch to try it out. I went for Campy Record on it which I hope I enjoy enough to forget about the cost.
I'll have to post a pic when it comes.

Can't wait to see the pics. I am waiting on a hamstring to heal :( so I can ride. I am certain you will be happy with your purchase.
codiene, you can't ride on ur hammy? The only reason I got into biking was because I pulled my hamstring sprinting and the trainers/coach put me on a bike-biggest mistake they ever made :D even right now I pulled my hammy lightly and have put in over 150 miles in the last 3 days
The Galileo is a nice bike. I compared it with a Cannondale R1000 when I was looking for a bike last year.
Although I decided on something else entirely, I was impressed with the overall ride quality. I prefered the cannondale's climbing ability more though.
But a good road bike has to be good at everything....

Haven't been able to get to see a doc yet, gotta love military health care. It's been bugging me for over a month and it's the first time I have had a hamstring problem. Don't want to overtax it. I might give it a try this sat. I miss my bike. I haven't ridden much since last Aug. due to a move and being sent away for 6 weeks. Good to hear that it shouldn't strain the leg too much.
