View Full Version : Power Tap Question

I have a standard Mavic Open Pro setup with the wireless 2.4 SL power tap.

For races I'd like to pick up a 404 rear with power tap hub.

I'm wondering if I'd need a second CPU (cervo), second HR strap, etc. or if a power tap CPU can "read" two different hubs, setups?

Thanks.

You just need the new hub. A training partner and I switch Cervos sometimes on rides if we're trying to diagnose battery or harness issues. The Cervos pick up each other's hubs right away.

With the wireless, you can enter the HubID in the computer. The computer will also "find" the HubID but I find it easier to just have the HubID memorized. So you don't need 2 computers. Same thing with HR strap.

Thanks boys.

I'm finding the Zipp powertap wireless hub (2.4 SL) online for about 2 grand.

Any other sources I should be checking out?

Edinabike hub for $1100, get a Zipp 360 rim for $600, some CX-Rays for $80, and have it built for $30...

...not a huge savings

Thanks waterrockets.

I found a couple of other reasonable handbuilt builders for people who are thinking of this:

Kent at Johnson Wheelworks

and Rich at Wheelbuilder

There are a couple of guys on Ebay selling SL 2.4 hub kits (hub, comp, HR strap) for $1100ish. Send them an email for their price on the hub only. I got one for $750. If you go this route make sure that you get sent the SL 2.4 instead of the SL wired (I am still dealing with this issue).

I paired mine to a DV46 from Reynolds.
