Foo - Name a puppy

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So, I adopted a new friend. I now have a nice Australian cattle dog around who already wants to herd the cats. I'm trying to think of a name for her. I first had the idea of an Aboriginal name, but that quickly went away as those names are a little strange to say. I decided to ask my foosters for suggestions. I'm sort of leaning toward Frieda unless someone has something good.
Oh, and I'm not naming my dog pie, quail, bass, beef jerky, guads, or merton.

+1 on this. It's got Aussie connections, it's an adorable name, and it's also a character of Roald Dahl who is smart, sassy, and resourceful.
Aubrey - Welsh for "Rules the Elves"
Angharad - Welsh for "Much Loved; Beloved
kinda old, tho....

How can we name a dog without a picture?
I think you should take the top 10 female pop artists and throw their names in a hat, and pick one.
Ensure that Britney and some of the recent big names are there even if they are not still in the top ten female artists right now...

Evonne Goolagong
I would say that this would be a great name to bestow upon a quick and agile female Australian cowdog. My old roommate Naomi had exactly the type of dog that you have. Very very intelligent and alert. She was always watching what was going on.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evonne_Goolagong_Cawley
Evonne Fay Goolagong Cawley, is a former World No. 1 Australian female tennis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis) player. She was one of the world's leading players in the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s) and early 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s), when she won 14 Grand Slam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_title) titles: seven in singles (four Australian Open (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Open), two Wimbledon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Championships,_Wimbledon) and one French Open (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Open)), six in women's doubles, and one in mixed doubles.
She was the first Australian Aboriginal woman to achieve international fame in sport and the first Aboriginal person to do so in any sport other than football or boxing. In 1971, she was named Australian of the Year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_of_the_Year) and the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_Press_Female_Athlete_of_the_Year). Goolagong's final Grand Slam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_%28tennis%29) title came at Wimbledon in 1980 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980). By this time, she was a 29-year-old mother and surprised the tennis world by beating Tracy Austin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracy_Austin) in a semifinal and Chris Evert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Evert) in the final, to win her second Wimbledon and seventh Grand Slam singles crown. She was the first mother in 66 years to win the Wimbledon singles title, the previous one being English woman Dorothea Lambert-Chambers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothea_Lambert-Chambers) in 1914.
Goolagong had excellent physical attributes for a tennis player. She was light, fast, and long-limbed, with lightning reflexes and the ability to cover the court with great agility. At her peak, she was regarded as one of the most graceful and subtle exponents of the women's game ever seen.

I was thinking of this one as well.
Lakota is good as well.
I'm down between Matilda, Frieda, and Lakota. I'd consider others. Thanks.

Barbara K Yawp: play on words from a Walt Whitman poem.
Australian? Hmmm...
Alice (Springs)
Lucy (Lawless)
Olivia (Newton John)
Germaine (Greer)
Kylie (Minogue)
Nicole (Kidman).
Actually how about "Germaine G" - a reference to a famous Australian woman and it can be shortened to Mange or Mangy?
I am not all that creative with dog names. Our male Boston Terrier is named Little Friend.

I took a couple of pics of her. The best I have right now is a cell phone, so they're OK.

I'm torn. I was thinking Frieda, Matilda, or something else. I name most of my pets after dictators or political figures. My cat's name is Trotsky.
I'm still sticking with Lakota. It's cute. hehe.
Btw, she's a cute pup.

Those are cell phone pics!!!???
Yeah, I have a Nokia phone that actually can take a decent shot if you hold it still. Inside shots are nearly impossible with it. They come out really grainy.
Oh, and I finally got one. I mentioned the name Trillian to a coworker and he suggested Kylie then Kaylee [Kaylee was a character on Firefly] That reminded me of another one from Firefly, so I named her Zoe. I think it works.
Please. It's Zoë.
Excellent name choice.
