I'll be racing CX this year on my Raleigh One Way. Right now I'm running a 39/16 on it and feel fairly comfortable on the trails I train on, but don't have any real experience actually racing w/this ratio.
For the record, I'm about 200lbs, so I think anything taller may be an issue.

Ideas? Input?

Thanks

Gearing is a personal thing. Sounds like you are happy with what you have so keep on with it. You can always keep a 17 freewheel on the other side and switch.

i hover around 2:1, which you're a decent bit taller than. did one race last year at 2.6:1 (forgot to put my freewheel back on the flip side) and placed about the same, but my body was hurting the next day.

i rarely find 2:1 to be too low, and on some sections i still have to run more than others.
