Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Looking for Veloflex Pave....

I've done some searching around and I can't find this tire at a reasonable price...

People have said they've paid $40 or less for one and I honestly can't find one for under $60.

Anybody know of a place I could find one on the cheap?

They have them in black and red too, but they're out of stock atm.

I only buy them on ebay--- never pay more than $30/each.

I hope you are not using them for the street. I use them as race-only tires--- and still, they are very prone to flatting. They also have a very brief tread life. On the other hand, they have the best ride on any clincher I have used.

I rode Paves for a few years until the price really shot up. I actually think the Michelin Pro Race 2's, 3's are a better riding tire and last much longer. I still use the gumwall Paves on my vintage bikes with clinchers though.

hey, i mean if someone can point me in the direction of a more streetable skinwall tire that supposedly rides like the paves do then by all means feel free. I just read these were the best.

I love the ride of my Velofles Pave's ($35 at Probikekit -- when they have them in stock). However, last Friday while I was about 5 miles into my commute, I put a 1/4" long gash all the way through the back tire when I hit something sharp and flatted on the MUP (I was riding my weekend-warrior road bike -- not my normal commuter). Apparently, they are more fragile than I was lead to believe.

That being said, I've ridden 35 miles on it since then, and the gash has not increased in size. I wonder if the 300tpi casing has something to do with it. It's possible that a cheaper tire would have ruptured completely, and I would have been walking back home.

I ride with Conti Ultra Gatorskins on my regular commuter. Not as supple (170tpi) as the Pave's, but they give me peace-of-mind. Probikekit (http://www.probikekit.com/index.php) has them on sale for around $24 right now.

In my opinion, the Veloflex Pave's are more of a weekend indulgence (they are frickin' smooth!), and not really suited for everyday riding.
