Bicycle Mechanics - Campy Front Derailleur Problem on Older Frame

I picked up a locally built steel frame last week and the braze-on front derailleur barely clears the 53T chainring, practically nicking it as it passes. The FD is mounted as high as I can on the braze-on mount. Could I grind it down by 1-2mm or should I find another solution like shaving off the mount and using an adapter ring? (I really don't want to do this)

Also, the crank arms didn't seem to go on really far, but far enough to get a good deal of screw threads in and they feel secure, but does it look alright?

Can you file the top of the braze-on fitting slot a mm or two to get more clearance? The cranks are probably ok but look like they are setting out a bit more than normal. Is this a JIS bottom bracket by any chance?

It's a Token ISO bottom bracket that is supposed to by compatible.

Are your crank bolts torqued down? That crank really looks like it's sitting too far out; look how much space there is between it and the chain stay.

The FD doesn't look too bad. What if you gave the cage a tweak so the rear of it was a bit lower? That might raise the front just enough to make it all work.

This is one of those things that wrenches don't talk about but can make all the difference between a "good-enough" fit and a perfect one.

picture 468 is a moose...... I agree, the drive side should be closer to the stay......tighten those bolts....
is the bb in the proper way? spindle drive side correct? cup flush--- it looks like it SHOULD work---
