Bicycle Mechanics - Brake cable/lever help

Hey guys,

I took my bike to a tiny shop here to have a new brake cable put on, but the guy running the shop said it can't be done with my lever... and I know that's not true.

Any solutions?

Take it to another shop? Look online for directions for your specific lever and do it yourself? Or bring the directions to that tiny LBS?

you are unique--- you are custom--- you must do this yourself---- buy the casing, cable---rear road brake long- a pair of diag cutters--- keep asking questions trial and error you will succeed and you will laugh at the so called experts--- thats bikes.....................

Your bike shop guy didn't like that situation because cross-top levers weren't meant to be the only lever. However they do work like that, as all you fixie hipsters have discovered. Either take it back and tell him to just put on one, take it to another shop, or DIY. It's really easy.

OK, I'm officially confused. How's the housing routed that doesn't result in a big looping back on itself? Or is it looping around under the bar and it's just blocked in the picture by all that yellow bartape?.... :D

the casing is cut ( distance is from brake lever to front brake?!) your cable slides in from left to right
through the brake body, through the barrel adjust through the casing--- your cinching is done---
use casing ends and a nice flat, flush casing end to ensure smoothness-- I hope this helps--
this brake is designed for a different reason- it looks like you are using it as simply a single speed, front wheel style brake.......................that's ok--- look on fixed gear gallery for ideas:thumb:
