I have been getting a few winter projects out of the way. One is to make custom chromoly pannier racks. I designed this front one to set behind the axle to allow packing the bike into a standard 60" long bike box. The panniers don't interfere with turning the bike or hit my toes while turning and pedaling

Looks good!

What is that, 3/16 rod?

Nice bends - what do you use to make them?
Do you weld? I used to do some work like that on the job. Haven't welded in 20 years.

I used 5/16 x .035 wall. I filled the tubes with fine sand and bent them over a 5" V-belt pulley. The joints are brazed. I do stick and gas welding but I don't have a mig or tig set-up for bicycle tubing so I braze or send out the bicycle stuff to someone else to TIG.
