Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - BFFGSS approved prebuilts?

lol.. you BF FGSS folks sure are are a fickle bunch. There are definitely favorites when it comes to pre-builts, but there are DEFINITELY some bikes you guys just don't like. Some bikes are just too "hipster", while other bikes are just too "ugly". So.. let's just let it all out. Which bikes do you guys love, and which do you hate.

I'm pretty sure almost every pre-built (asides from the Felt and Langster) is approved.

The Langster sucks.
So do Pistas actually, if only for their hip factor.

In my short time here I get the impression that every bike is hated by at least a handful of people on here. There's probably more universal bike love on the B/TD&PHG (bus/taxi driver and pot-hole gnome) forums.

Yeah. It doesn't matter what bike you have. Whether it is pre-built, or you build it yourself. Somebody is going to hate it. They will tell you why they hate it, and why you are dumb for ever buying something that you like.

is the felt tk2 approved? i know they're not on a good start with the curbside, but i'm thinking of picking up a tk2 and i only ride bikes approved by bffgss'ers :D

case in point: my adidas samba/kilo tt.

it's a shoe, and some people love it because it's not just another mercier but others think it's worse than a citybike for being so "fashionista" or whatever. aside from shoes, i don't have anything even remotely fashionable. i wear the same jeans everyday and solid color t's.

the thing is, people either hate it because it's a kiloTT that no one would ever know is a kilo unless they knew exactly what the tubing was shaped like... or they hate it because it's not a higher quality more normal bike.

if i could do the same adidas shoe theme with a different bike, a tk2 or a 735tr or something similar, i would... but i'm cold broke so f it.


anyway, this forum, like many others, is 3% useful and 97% ridiculousness that is better enjoyed than analyzed.

it's not yet hip enough on here to be hated or thoroughly and universally "approved"...

it is loved though and i'm sure it will have greater popularity than basically anything else that isn't a concept immaculately designed and built.

IRO Angus. I seem to vaguely recall Steamroller has more relaxed geo than
Angus. Could be wrong. More relaxed i.e. shallower angles and more fork rake
means more comfy on long rides but harder to skid, skip.

This is... pointless. EVERY bike will have fans and foes. For every *insert bike name here* hater, there's a *insert same bike name here* lover.

OP maybe you should figure out what attributes you want in a bike and
figure things out from that angle--decide for instance, how you want the bike
to handle then compare geometry charts side by side.

It might be better to judge things, not for their fashion points, but with real substance...such as if they are overpriced or poorly designed.

For instance, I find the lack of rear brake drilling in the Bianchi Pista frame to be idiotic. Obviously Pistas are ridden on the street more than the track. It comes with a fixed-free flip flop hub, seemingly offering SS as an option. But the lack of a rear brake option is sorta half-assed. I'd give the Pista a low ranking.


The Redline 925, on the other hand, is set up well. Its meant to be a commuter and is set up properly for it. And its priced right. That bike knows what it wants to be. High ranking.

Now for the Kilo TT...a great bargain, but it has its issues. Its meant to look like a track bike, but the geometry is sorta half-assed track geometry. And what's with the eyelets for fenders...the frame and fork are so tight that fenders barely fit. This bike doesn't really know what it wants to be. Low ranking.

The Bianchi San Jose is well designed for street riding/commuting and SS cyclocross. Priced right, too. Plus the frame is good enough that you can upgrade wheels and stuff without worry.
